Recognizing the need for a program for teens on the Autism Spectrum in Durham Region, FOOTPRINTS applied to the Durham Community Foundation in 2014 for a Pilot Program in 2015.
In partnership with the Pickering Public Library, we ran a very successful drop-in weekly social program for youth 13-21 on the Autism Spectrum and peer volunteers.
Thank you to the Durham Community Foundation for recognizing the need and funding the program once again in 2016.
Our volunteer base has grown from a few dedicated volunteers to well over 100 people who regularly give of their time each month to FOOTPRINTS.
Volunteer opportunities are varied and include Child Support for the kids enrolled in the program, Steering Committee members who oversee all aspects of the program, as well as Special Event and Fundraising volunteers.
